Meet Jackie

Owner / Principal Planner

Hospitality has always been my calling.  It all started in high school where my advanced cooking class catered events.  I can still remember our first event, under the direction of my amazing cooking teacher, Mrs. DelPrete.  Our guests were so incredibly impressed and happy with the job we had done, I felt so happy and proud.  This is the feeling I still get when I plan successful and joyful weddings.

Prior to About Joy Events, I worked in finance and the wine industry where planning events and tastings was an everyday occurrence.  I prided myself in exceeding expectations which led to more interesting and exciting events like food and wine festivals.

As a fourth-generation San Franciscan, I appreciate everything about the Bay Area and all the wonderful and unique things about living here, especially the food scene.  I am a total foodie, tacos, pasta, and chocolate croissants being at the top of my favorites list.  I am a huge fan of simple and elegant and also extra and extraordinary it all depends on how it is presented.  Vintage items, like a unique brooch or cat-eye sunglasses, make me happy, basically, I am a lover of style.

Working in different industries has balanced out my skills and I am happy to be back in the hospitality industry doing the work I love.  As a creative, joyful and organized person, my passion is helping happy couples create a wedding that is all about them.

Meet Cookie

Senior Production Manager

People often describe as me an old soul, maybe they are right, I was only eight years old when I decided The Golden Girls was my favorite show ever.  I am also a lover of all animals and have a wonderful fabulous dachshund named Poppy Lou. Being creative keeps me happy from knitting to sewing to painting.  I also love cooking and have helped my family throw elaborate dinner parties and holiday events ever since I can remember, happy memories include my sister insisting we try all food before the guests came over to “make sure it was good enough for human consumption.”

I am a native San Franciscan and really love the Asian food scene here, ramen being my favorite comfort food.  I can’t say no to a fancy cocktail either, gin being the elixir of choice.

I love weddings and being part of someone’s special day.  While my favorite part is always the vows, I also love the way things come together, the details, the creativity of the event, and being part of the joy of the day.
